Understanding your aged care costs and choices at AEQURA Residences
AEQURA provides a range of aged care services with various fees and charges. When moving into an aged care home you may be required to pay a one-off payment or deposit, as well as ongoing fees for your care, accommodation and daily living expenses.
These fees may include a basic daily fee, means-tested fees, accommodation payment or higher everyday living fees. Whilst the Australian Government subsidises a range of aged care services in Australia, residents who have financial means are required to contribute to the cost of their care and accommodation.
What are the fees and charges?
In residential aged care, you might be required to pay one or more of the following fees:
Basic Daily Fee
All aged care residents receiving ongoing (permanent) or short-term (respite) care are required to pay this fee. The Basic Daily Fee covers daily living expenses, including meals, cleaning, laundry, heating and cooling.
The government sets the rate for this fee, which is calculated at 85% of the single basic age pension. The Basic Daily Fee increases in line with changes to the single basic age pension, which the government adjusts twice yearly.
Hotelling Contribution
The Hotelling Contribution covers part of the cost of daily living services such as meals, cleaning and laundry. The amount you pay is determined by your means assessment and is outlined in your fee advice letter from Services Australia.
Non-Clinical Care Contribution
The Non-Clinical Care Contribution covers some costs for personal care such as assistance with bathing, mobility and lifestyle activities. The amount you pay is determined by your means assessment and is outlined in your fee advice letter from Services Australia.
Means-tested Care Fee
This is an amount that some people on 1 July 2014 fee arrangements pay towards the cost of their care.
Accommodation Costs
Depending on the outcome of your government means assessment, residents receiving ongoing care may be required to make a payment or contribution towards their accommodation. Please note that these specific accommodation charges do not apply to short-term care. Each room in an AEQURA Residence has a published maximum room price. Information about room prices and features is available on our website for each residence, on the My Aged Care website and will also be provided by the Home. If a resident’s government means assessment indicates that they need to pay or contribute to their accommodation, they have a choice to do so through a:
- Non-refundable Daily Accommodation Payment (DAP)
- Refundable Accommodation Deposit (RAD) or a combination of both a RAD and DAP.
- Non-refundable Daily Accommodation Contribution (DAC)
- Refundable Accommodation Contribution (RAC), or a combination of both a RAC and DAC.
If you move into an aged care home for the first time on or after 1 November 2025, a 2% retention (capped at 10%) will be deducted from your paid RAD or RAC for each year you are in the aged care home for up to a maximum of 5 years.

Higher Everyday Living Service - HELF
From 1 November 2025, AEQURA Residences offers Higher Everyday Living Services for residents who want a premium lifestyle beyond the legislated standard services. Both ongoing and short-term care residents can choose to receive these premium services.
Each Residence provides a unique selection, which may include enhanced dining, premium beverage options, one-on-one support, upgraded technology and other lifestyle enhancements. Our team will discuss the options available at your Residence and help you select the service that suits you best.
You can choose individual services or select a package that combines popular offerings at a discounted rate. If you decide to access these services, you will sign a separate agreement outlining your selections before any charges apply.
AEQURA reserves the right to amend its higher everyday living offerings from time to time. Higher everyday living services are available following a resident’s start date at a participating Residence and are subject to the full terms set out in the Standing Higher Everyday Living Agreement.
Accommodation Costs

+ - Single Room with Shared External Bathroom
A comfortable, furnished private room of approximately 15m² with access to shared external bathroom facilities. The room includes an electric bed, built-in wardrobe, lockable storage, overbed table and visitor chair, with air conditioning and central heating.

A spacious, furnished room of 24m² or 26m², shared by up to two residents, with access to shared external bathroom facilities. The room includes electric beds, built-in wardrobes, lockable storage, overbed tables and visitor chairs, with air conditioning and central heating.
