Moving into residential aged care is a significant decision. We’ve answered the questions we hear most often to help you understand the process, the care available and what it may cost.

1 How do I apply for permanent residential care or respite care?

You will generally need an aged care assessment and approval for permanent residential care or residential respite. Contact My Aged Care on 1800 200 422 or speak with our team for guidance through the enquiry and admission process.

2 How do I choose the right Aequra residence?

Our team will consider your care needs, preferred location, room requirements, cultural background and lifestyle preferences to help you find the most suitable residence.

3 Can I tour a residence before applying?

Yes. We welcome prospective residents and families to arrange a tour, meet our team and experience the residence before making a decision.

4 What care and support are available?

We provide 24-hour care and support tailored to each resident’s assessed needs, preferences and goals. This may include personal care, nursing, medication support, allied health services and lifestyle programs.

5 Do your residences support people from different cultures and faiths?

Yes. All Aequra residences welcome people from every cultural, religious and linguistic background. While individual homes specialise in supporting particular cultural communities, admission is open to everyone. Care is tailored to each resident’s identity, beliefs, preferences and traditions.

6 Are meals and dietary requirements catered for?

Yes. Residents receive nutritious meals and refreshments, with individual dietary, clinical, cultural and religious requirements considered.

7 What room options are available?

Room options vary across our residences and may include private and shared rooms, private ensuites, shared bathrooms and terrace rooms. Please contact the relevant residence to discuss current availability.

8 How much does residential aged care cost?

Costs depend on your financial circumstances, means assessment, selected room and applicable government arrangements. Our team can explain the fees and accommodation payment options that may apply.

9 What are a RAD and DAP?

A Refundable Accommodation Deposit, or RAD, is a lump-sum accommodation payment. A Daily Accommodation Payment, or DAP, is a daily accommodation payment calculated using the applicable interest rate. Depending on your circumstances, you may pay through a RAD, DAP or a combination of both.

10 Is residential respite care available?

Residential respite may be available at selected Aequra residences, subject to approval for respite care, an assessment of the person’s care needs, suitability and room availability. Please contact our team to discuss current options.

11 Can residents bring personal belongings or furniture?

Yes. Residents are encouraged to personalise their rooms with meaningful belongings and suitable furniture, subject to available space and safety requirements.

12 Can family and friends visit?

Yes. We encourage residents to maintain important relationships and welcome visits in accordance with each resident’s preferences and any relevant health and safety arrangements.
